Hello, Peter,

I used the Twonky 5.0.55 with my 4100PRO since April 2009 and You might remember you helped me with your advice. So the time has arrived for Linn Products to upgrade the software of their Linn DS products (UPNP Media Renderers). Well, the LIBRARY in Linn GUI (UPNP CONTROL POINT) stopped to see the NAS. I have upgraded to 5.0.65 and at the first 2minutes it worked fine than problems with web interface began (freezes) and eventually I could not accsess it although no new IP addresses were given. Well, I returned to the previous version and now what I have:
I can access from Linn Konfig application the whole of my network, I can access the web page of Twonky from the link in Linn Konfig NAS section, it shows CONNECTED, Twonky running. But, I cannot access LIBRARY, the GUI (on PC) does not see the NAS unless you reset the list of the media receivers. After that all music appears, all works fine. I reboot the PC - same problem, no NAS seen until I go again to config page and reset the list. All the defenders/firewalls are disabled in PC.

Is it really a network poblem (I set up it alone for the first time not knowing a bit about networking but eventually I acieved acceptable for me results and speed).
Or is it a problem with twonky. I am so unhappy with returning to old Linn firmware family as the newest is far better in all aspects except it causes me not to /OFF my control PC at all.
Sorry for the long and messy post,

Regards

From Your PM's I see that You use DHCP on the WAN side of Your Thecus.
I assume You have connected the N4100 via the WAN port to Your Network and don't use the LAN port. Please try to use fixed IP adress on the WAN port.
Sometimes it takes a little time till the Twonkyserver is recognized by the clients.

Thank You very much, I'll try the fixed address. But why it used to work fine with the previous Linn firmware? Are you familiar with the Linn Kinsky Desktop? They have oss.linn.co.uk and maybe you can have a look if you have time.

Sorry, but I'm absolutly not familiar wit the Linn products - I'll check it when I've some free time

Great! Thanks a lot! After I finish copying all the files from the NAS to the external drive I can start experimenting (safely) with modules, networking and things like SSH access.

Hi,

Thank You very much, Peter for the notification. I will try it Monday. Although only 5.0.55 proved to work flawlessly on my 4100Pro. The later one worked for 5 minutes and crashed. Really, as I understand now, all the issues I had in my setup were because of the network, not a NAS or Twonky issues.

Hello peterfu,

thanx for the info about the release 5.1 on Twonky server.
I'm a little bit irritated, because on the twonky webpages they offer a
license key for the version 5 (that's ok), but the trial versions of the
server show always version 5.0.68 (on Win, Mac and Linux).
No word about the version 5.1.

Can you explain it to me ?

Kind regards,
Tohu

Hi Tohu,
5.1 is in the unsupported section:
http://twonkyforum.com/downloads/5.1/index.html
PV usually provides a new release to their forum users first.
Advantage: You have it quick
Disadavante: the actiove forum users acts sometimes a testers

Hi peterfu,

yeah: as you mentioned it in your reply, I memorized it.
Thanx for your fast reply, even if it is on sunday afternoon!!
By the way:
I Installed the latest tms version (2.00.18) on my N7700.
And I ordered a new license key for it.
The brand new key is also reported as "in use", so I think that there
is a problem with the online license verification at twonkymedia/pv.

All the best,
Tohu

Hi, I'm new to this forum and to the Twonky Media Server.

I have a N5500 for about two Years now and would like to give the Twonky Media Server a try. So I hope this is not a silly question:

The N5500 uses the same firmware as the N7700, as far as I know.
So my question is, can your twonky module be installed on a N5500?

Thanks for your reply.
Just another Quetion: the downloadfile for Version 6.0.37 on your Homepage is named "N5200_TWONKYMEDIA_6.0.37.zip".

For the previous Version 6.0.34 you had two file, one named "N5200_TWONKYMEDIA_6.0.34.zip" and one named "N7700_TWONKYMEDIA_6.0.34.zip".

so is the current 6.0.37 installable on both platforms or should I better use the N7700 download Version 6.0.34 for my N5500?

Thanks in advance.
